Bohol–Panglao International Airport welcomes Philippine Airlines’ first A330 with its Bohol-Manila flight

Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) has welcomed Philippine Airlines (PAL) first Airbus A330 landing today, 27 October 2026, at 6:25 a.m. Operating flights PR1771/PR1772 flying to and from Manila, the wide-body aircraft brought 150 arriving passengers and was welcomed with a water cannon salute, a traditional aviation honor for milestone flights.

The aircraft then departed for Manila with 190 passengers, moving a total of 340 travelers on its first rotation. The A330 aircraft offers significantly more capacity per flight than the narrow-body aircraft that typically serve the route.

“Having both of the country’s major airlines fly wide-body aircraft into Bohol shows how far BPIA has come,” said Aldwin Uy, General Manager of Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC). “Every additional seat into Bohol is an opportunity for our communities, from hotels and tour operators to the farmers, artisans and small enterprises that make the Bohol experience what it is.”

The arrival makes the Philippine flag carrier the second airline to bring wide-body service to Bohol, a milestone made possible by Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC), BPIA’s private operator, which upgraded the airport’s firefighting and rescue capability in close coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The added capacity arrives as Bohol gears up for the year-end travel season, and supports the Provincial Government’s Visit Bohol 2027 campaign, which public and private sector stakeholders aligned on during the Bohol Tourism Marketing Workshop earlier this month.

“We happily welcome Philippine Airlines’ very first Airbus A330 here at our Bohol-Panglao International Airport. This shows the confidence of our airlines in the potential of the Province of Bohol for more tourists and visitors. Thank you very much, Philippine Airlines,” said Governor Erico “Aris” Aumentado, Governor of Bohol Province.

Bohol is the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark and one of the country’s fastest-growing tourism destinations. With wide-body service now offered by two carriers, BPIA is positioned to support higher visitor volumes, greater airline flexibility during peak seasons, and future route development.
