First “Tan-ok” film fest to feature Ilocano strength, pride amidst pandemic

The grandest celebration of festivals in Ilocos Norte goes online as COVID-19 restrictions are inhibiting in-person events— paving the way to the conception of the first “Tan-ok ni Ilocano Film Festival.”

This year’s theme is “Bileg ken Tan-ok” (Our Strength, Our Pride), which will showcase the creative storytelling of Ilocano heritage, traditions, history, and natural environment amidst the present feats and struggles of people.

Moreover, the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office is hopeful that the province’s premiere “Tan-ok” film festival will reinforce the Ilocanos’ resilience and serve as an inspiration to the modern-day audience.

Screening of the ten finalists will be on December 26 to 28, 2020 at the La Tabacalera Lifestyle Center, Laoag City.

Winners of the Best “Tan-ok ni Ilocano” Film and their chosen beneficiary will each receive Php 50,000.00 during the awarding ceremony on December 29, 2020, at the Paoay Lake National Park.

In previous years, “Tan-ok ni Ilocano” gathers thousands of festival-goers, including visitors from Northern Luzon, to witness the display of Ilocano greatness through dance and music festival portrayals of the cultures, livelihoods, and histories unique to each of the 21 towns and two cities in the province yearly
