Meliá Pattaya Hotel is beckoning guests of all ages to try their hand, and feet, at Thailand’s national sport with Muay Thai experiences, following the hotel’s starring role in Tyson Fury’s fight with Mariusz Wach in Pattaya.
Youngsters staying at the hotel are getting a taste of the fighting spirit themselves, albeit in decidedly gentler fashion, through complimentary Muay Thai activities offered as part of kids’ club Kidsdom’s program. The sessions introduce children to basic stance and guard, footwork, straight punches, kicks and knee strikes, with the emphasis firmly on coordination, balance and movement rather than contact or sparring.

The Muay Thai activity joins a colourful roster of complimentary activities at Kidsdom, Meliá Pattaya Hotel’s dedicated space for children aged four to 12. Its rotating program encourages younger travellers to get creative and active with activities spanning arts and crafts and interactive games.
Grown-ups keen to channel their inner heavyweight can also undertake a beginner Thai boxing class during their stay. Priced at THB 600 net for a one-hour session for one or two guests, the private class introduces participants to beginner-level Muay Thai techniques and fundamentals to support fitness, coordination, balance and confidence. Depending on timing and availability, the experience can be arranged at the hotel’s Yitong Sky Bar, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, or at its Shad or Kaki meeting rooms.
The hotel team staged its “Meliá Lunch with Love” initiative at Father Ray Foundation, donating and distributing 120 meal boxes to children and spending time engaging and playing with them.
The hotel’s focus on the fighting art comes after Meliá Pattaya Hotel stepped into the international boxing spotlight as official hotel and venue partner for Goldstar Promotions. The hotel hosted the Fury versus Wach press conference at Khraam Ballroom on July 22 and official weigh-in at beachfront LAY Beach Club on July 23, ahead of the July 24 bout at Pattaya’s Max Muay Thai Stadium. The events were filmed as part of Netflix’s documentary series At Home with the Furys – Season 3.
The LAY Beach Club weigh-in delivered a surprise of its own with Fury tipping the scales at 120kg, some 12kg lighter than the 132kg Wach. “I’m Mr Slim now,” Fury joked at the weigh-in. The two-time work champion added: “I’m getting sharper, fitter and stronger by the day.”

The fight packed a philanthropic punch too. Profits from ticket sales were directed to Pattaya’s Father Ray Foundation, which provides care and educational services to some 850 disadvantaged children and students with disabilities. Fury visited the foundation after researching local charities and selected it as beneficiary of the event, which also saw him recognised with the inaugural WBC Humanitarian title.
The hotel has forged its own relationship with the Father Ray Foundation. Just eight days before hosting the Fury press conference, the hotel team staged its “Meliá Lunch with Love” initiative at the foundation on July 14, donating and distributing 120 meal boxes to children and spending time engaging and playing with them. The hotel is committed to continuing its support of the foundation, with further collaborations planned.
“Muay Thai is such a significant part of Thailand’s sporting and cultural identity, and we want our guests to have opportunities to connect with the destination in fun and meaningful ways,” said Meliá Pattaya Hotel’s general manager Alexander Lopez. “After the excitement of welcoming the international boxing community to the hotel for the Fury and Wach events, it is fitting that our own guests, from our youngest visitors to adults, try Muay Thai for the first time and experience some of the fundamentals of boxing themselves.”
Meliá Pattaya Hotel opened in February 2025 in the heart of the coastal city, approximately 1.5 hours by road from Bangkok. In addition to Kidsdom, family-friendly facilities include a dedicated children’s pool and children’s menus at Saneh Sarae and LAY Beach Club.
