Royal Caribbean is today announcing new holidays on Voyager of the Seas for spring 2028, giving vacationers more ways to explore Japan during its iconic cherry blossom season.
The holidays take place from late February through April 2028, with select dates timed to coincide with peak bloom periods in different parts of Japan. Depending on the holiday, vacationers can explore historic ports including Nagasaki and Osaka; discover the regional flavours of Kobe, Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Kagoshima; and visit Okinawa, Mount Fuji (Shimizu), Sasebo (Uragashira) and destinations across South Korea including Jeju (Seogwipo) and Busan.
Voyager of the Seas’ brand-new season brings together three distinct ways to explore Japan and beyond:
A 10-night open-jaw holiday from Hong Kong to Tokyo, showcasing Japan’s mix of history, culture and cuisine; vacationers can explore the heritage of Nagasaki, discover the regional flavours of Kagoshima, and enjoy an overnight stay in Kobe, a cosmopolitan port city known for its scenic waterfront and culinary heritage, before experiencing Osaka’s renowned food scene and continuing to Tokyo.
Three roundtrip holidays from Tokyo – ranging from 11- to 12-nights, offer different ways to explore Japan and South Korea, with ports of call spanning major cities, regional destinations and island escapes. Vacationers can experience Kobe and Osaka, discover Kumamoto’s castle heritage, sample Fukuoka’s celebrated food culture, explore Nagasaki’s layered history, take in Kagoshima’s volcanic scenery and regional flavours, and visit Sasebo, known for its scenic bays and coastal landscapes. Select holidays also include calls in South Korea including Jeju (Seogwipo), featuring volcanic landscapes and coastal scenery, and Busan, a lively port city with a vibrant waterfront. Other highlights include Mount Fuji (Shimizu), offering views of Japan’s iconic peak; and Okinawa, where an overnight stay allows more time to experience the island’s tropical landscapes.
A 16-night Pacific crossing from Tokyo to Seattle takes vacationers north to Sapporo (Muroran), where an overnight stay offers more time to discover Hokkaido’s dramatic landscapes, coastal scenery and distinctive local flavours, followed by a series of days at sea – including a crossing of the International Date Line – before arriving in Seattle, USA.
The holidays are part of Voyager’s broader 2027- 2028 Asia Pacific season, which features 2- to 16-night vacations from Brisbane and Sydney, Australia; Singapore; and Hong Kong – taking vacationers across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, China, Japan and South Korea.
More ways to make the most of every day at sea
Between destinations, Voyager brings together experiences for every generation. Thrill-seekers can catch a wave on the FlowRider surf simulator, race down The Perfect Storm waterslides, scale the rock-climbing wall or go ice-skating at Studio B. Families can test their putting skills at Voyager Dunes, the ship’s nine-hole mini-golf course, or face off in a glow-in-the-dark game of Laser Tag: Battle for Planet Z. Younger vacationers can enjoy dedicated activities at Adventure Ocean, while teens have their own space to connect at the Living Room.
Dining spans everything from Italian family-style favourites at Giovanni’s Table and hand-cut steaks at Chops Grille to sushi and Japanese-inspired flavours at Izumi. For a more casual bite, vacationers can visit Windjammer or Café Promenade – giving everyone the flexibility to spend sea days their own way, from high-energy adventures and quality family time, to relaxed meals and time to unwind.
