Hotel Okura Manila: Philippines-Japan Friendship Month offerings

A series of exclusive offerings inspired by seven decades of friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

Hotel Okura Manila at Newport World Resorts marks the 70th Philippines–Japan Friendship Month with a collection of dining experiences, culinary collaborations, and cultural workshops inspired by the longstanding connection between the two nations through cuisine and craftsmanship.

Throughout July, Hotel Okura Manila invites guests to experience thoughtfully curated offerings inspired by the connection between the Philippines and Japan. 

Grand Chef Tadashi Sawauchi of Okura Hotels & Resorts, Executive Chef Keiichiro Fujino of Hotel Okura Manila, and Jumpei Yamanashi, Assistant Chef from The Okura Tokyo have curated a seven-course dinner for the occasion. The collaboration brings together Japanese culinary expertise and one of Japan’s most celebrated Wagyu brands, offering a rare opportunity to experience Arita Wagyu in the Philippines.

Available throughout July, Yawaragi extends the celebration with two weekend buffet experiences, each inspired by the friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

From July 3 to 31, the Chef’s Selection Buffet, available every Friday dinner and Saturday lunch, is priced at PHP 2,100++ per person. This curated spread highlights a selection of international favorites and Japanese specialties.

Meanwhile, the Kisetsu Buffet, offered from July 4 to 26 every Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch, is priced at PHP 3,100++ per person. Indulge in multiple live stations, carving selections,and a broader range of seasonal offerings, showcasing the richness of Filipino and Japanese cuisine.

Beyond the dining table, Hotel Okura Manila continues to share an immersive cultural exchange through hands-on culinary workshops. From learning the delicate art of sushi with Chef Ikuma Sato to crafting mochi with Senior Pastry Chef Vi Serrano, each session offers a deeper appreciation for time-honored techniques and refined flavors.

The Mochi Workshop offers guests an introduction to one of Japan’s most beloved traditional sweets. 

Led by Senior Pastry Chef Vi Serrano, participants will learn the techniques behind crafting handmade mochi while exploring its cultural significance in Japanese celebrations.

Available on July 5 and July 19 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Priced at PHP 1,900++ per person. Includes coffee, tea, and one (1) box of mochi giveaways.

Guided by Chef Ikuma Sato, the Sushi Workshop at Yamazato, invites guests to discover the fundamentals of sushi through an exclusive hands-on experience.

Available on July 10 and July 24, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm for PHP 5,400++ per person.
