DOT, ACMobility, and BYD partner to fuel Philippine sustainable tourism

The Department of Tourism (DOT), ACMobility and the Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI), the exclusive distributor of BYD on Friday (Jan. 23), inked partnership to elevate the Philippine tourism experience through the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.” Campaign. This landmark initiative aims to further enhance travelers’ journeys with ACMobility’s ultra-fast charging stations and encourage travelers to explore the country’s landscapes in BYD’s eco-friendly electric vehicles.

“Under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Philippines has placed strong emphasis on renewable energy, energy security, and climate resilience as foundations of long-term growth. By integrating electric mobility into tourism circuits, our Tourist Rest Areas (TRA) across the Philippines and emerging destinations, this partnership applies to those priorities on the ground that strengthen access, support regional dispersal, and allow tourism growth while managing environmental impact,” Secretary Frasco said during the handover ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement, underscoring the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing the commitment to a more sustainable future for Philippine tourism.

Meanwhile, ACMobility Chief Executive Officer Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala lauded the Tourism Chief’s statement, calling the partnership a defining moment for sustainable travel in the country.

“Our mission is clear: to make land travel accessible, convenient, and inspiring. By combining ACMoblity Philippines, EV charging spine network, BYD’s world-class electric vehicles, and the DOT’s vision for sustainable tourism, we are creating a seamless ecosystem that powers every journey across the entire country,” he added.

To help bring this story to life, renowned Filipino-American vlogger Wil Dasovich will feature the country’s key tourism destinations, showcase DOT’s TRAs, and visit Philippine’s Michelin-awarded restaurants to celebrate local heroes and tourism innovators through BYD platforms.

“Together, these efforts support an ecosystem that encourages innovation, strengthens investor confidence, and positions the Philippines as a tourism destination aligned with regional and global sustainability standards,” Secretary Frasco emphasized, adding that the MOA will further fuel local transport services, food establishments, community enterprises, and household incomes linked to tourism.
