“11th Tan-Ok ni Ilocano: Festival of Festivals,” up as Ilocos Norte celebrates 206th Foundation Anniversary

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), headed by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc will leads a flag-raising ceremony and the distribution of assistance and awarding of projects, in celebration of Ilocos Norte’s 206th foundation anniversary today.

The flag-raising ceremony will be attended by provincial, city, and municipal officials, and employees of the provincial government. It will  be followed by a series of awarding and distribution of livelihood projects and assistances, and the groundbreaking of Ilocos Norte Central Terminal Hub and Parking Building to highlight the celebration.

The awarding of livelihood projects is a testament to Gov. Marcos Manotoc’s continued commitment to prioritize the well-being of our kakaillian, especially those in the marginalized sector. Meanwhile, the distribution underscores PGIN’s dedication to address the diverse needs of the people, in the sectors of agriculture, education, employment, and livelihood.

The projects to be awarded include various forms of support aimed at improving livelihoods, assisting students, and providing necessary assistances such as agricultural inputs, scholarship grants, and emergency response equipment.

On the other hand, the establishment of the central terminal hub is deemed a significant step forward in enhancing transportation infrastructure in the province, and will serve as a modern facility, catering to the needs of commuters, and resulting to improved traffic management. This is a joint project of PGIN and the Department of Transportation.

Aside from the said activities, a live concert will be held in front of the Provincial Capitol in the evening, with performances from  local talents and the Filipino pop rock band “Orange and Lemons” to conclude the day’s celebration.

Among other activities set for this month is the “11th Tan-Ok ni Ilocano: Festival of Festivals,” a grand celebration of culture and arts showcasing festivals from the different municipalities and cities of Ilocos Norte, on February 16, at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium.
