Five things to do in Cam Sur

If you are planning to visit Camarines Sur or Cam Sur for short and wondering what to do in this largest province of Bicol, just read on.

1. Pack Your Gears And Play Golf At The Pili Grove Golf Club

For golf enthusiasts, one good thing about visiting, or if you are already in Cam Sur is you can still play golf and practice your swing. Currently, there are already two golf courses in the area. One is at Haciendas de Naga and the newly opened one is the Pili Grove Gold Club, located inside the Camsur Waterpark Complex (CWC). Just a 20-minute drive away from Naga City, this lush green 9-hole golf course is set against the majestic Mt. Isarog.

Whether you are a pro or a beginner, you will surely enjoy the club’s premium facilities and services. No golf knowledge? No problem. Pili Grove has an in-house golf professional that conducts golf lessons for both groups and individuals.

It was cloudy and drizzling when we dropped by the area but still, we could see some golfers, but mostly on the driving range only. For more information, you can visit their website at https://www.piligrovegolfclub.com/.

2. Try Wakeboarding At Camsur Waterpark Complex

If you are more adventurous, you can try wakeboarding or knee boarding also at CWC. To use the wakeboard park, you have to register and pay around Ph160. an hour. Lockers and cabanas are also available for rent. Again, no wakeboarding experience? No problem. The complex has 2 cable parks for the expert and for beginners. CWC complex offers wakeboarding, knee boarding, water-skiing, water skating, and boat rides. For a beginner, you can try first knee boarding.

Someone shared a joke and said that wakeboarding or any kind of waterboarding is best enjoyed when you do it with a group, especially for beginners because when you fall or make a fool of yourself, somebody will laugh at you!

3. Commune With Nature At Naga City Eco Park

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, try Naga Ecological Park. This 3-hectare property is only a 10-15 minute drive from the Centro or downtown Naga City. Aside from communing with nature and boosting your immune system, this park gives you respite from the daily grind and stressful city living. Thanks to the trees, shrubs, flowers, and its lush and green surroundings.

During our visit, we noticed only a handful of groups, mostly couples, were touring the area. Well, maybe because it was cloudy and drizzling and still in the middle of the Christmas or Holiday rush. Anyway, you go there for nature, not for people.

4. Take A Side Trip To Pasacao Town

You might be wondering where Pasacao is? For sure, you know, or you’ve already visited Caramoan. Before the prominence of Caramoan, Pasacao is already a favorite swimming destination for the locals. Pasacao is only a 45-minute drive from Naga City and a 15-minute drive from Maharlika Highway while Caramoan is around a 4-hour drive from Naga City. So, Pasacao could be an easy side trip if you are going to Manila from Naga City or vice versa. And by the way, Pasacao is the Summer Capital of Cam Sur.

Aside from its close proximity to Naga City, this coastal town is also blessed with fine beaches. One favorite activity of visitors is visiting Daruanak Island, the town’s most popular landmark. The island offers a white sand beach and a rocky hill. You can swim or dive and enjoy its crystal-clear water. If you are the more adventurous type, you can trek or hike the island and delight in the stunning view of the town’s coastline.

Of course, there are other things you can do in this town, like taking a Jetski ride, visiting an eco farm, and other exciting activities.

5. Stay At Summit Hotel Or Go Hotel Naga City

We had the privilege of staying at both Summit Hotel and Go Hotel Nāga City during our recent trip to Cam Sur. Special thanks to the very efficient Sales and Marketing team for making it possible. Staying at these hotels puts you at the heart of Cam Sur; whether you want to go south, north, east, or west, this Queen City of Bicol is the best place to be.

Summit Hotel Naga offers a wide range of choices for recreation, dining, and memorable events. The hotel has a meeting room, a pillarless Ballroom for 700 persons, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and an all-day dining restaurant, Café Summit, which offers a contemporary spin on Bicolano cuisine with an aesthetic space to bond over good food with loved ones. Its sibling, Go Hotel Naga, which shares the same building as Summit Hotel, is also a perfect option, especially for those travelers who are always on the go and on the lookout for more adventurous destinations. We will share with you our great experience with Summit Hotel Naga and Go Hotel Naga in detail in separate stories which will be published soon.
