PH GolfCon 2026 players swing at Intramuros heritage tour

Tournament players of this year’s Philippine Golf Convention (GolfCon) Invitational Tournament explored the historic Walled City of Intramuros through a heritage tour on Thursday (Mar. 12), highlighting the country’s rich cultural legacy alongside its growing reputation as a world-class golf tourism destination.

The tour began at the Centro de Turismo Intramuros, one of the newest tourism hubs within the Walled City, which houses curated exhibits on Intramuros’ colonial past and architectural heritage.

Participants also visited several iconic sites within the historic district, including Manila Cathedral and Plaza Roma. They then strolled through Intramuros’ cobblestone streets and centuries-old bastions, getting a glimpse of the Walled City’s storied past.

The tour concluded at Fort Santiago and Rizal Shrine, where exhibits detail the national hero’s final days of imprisonment and his legacy in the Philippine struggle for independence.

The heritage tour was a pre-event activity of the Philippine GolfCon Invitational Tournament, a three-day pre-convention event being held from March 11 to 13 at the Club Intramuros Golf Course.

The tournament accommodated up to 120 players per day, bringing the expected total number of participants to around 360 golfers across the three-day competition.

Serving as the lead-up to the main convention, the invitational tournament set the stage for the Philippine GolfCon 2026, which officially took place on March 14 to 15 in Pasay City.

Co-presented by the Department of Tourism, the Philippine GolfCon is positioned as the country’s flagship platform for the convergence of the golf and tourism sectors, expected to gather more than 2,000 delegates, visitors, and exhibitors from across the golf, tourism, and business industries.
