First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos recently led the inauguration of Foro De Intramuros, the newest and largest events venue in the historic Walled City of Manila.

She was joined by Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, as well as Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, former Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary, now Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Development Jerry Acuzar, and Intramuros Administration (IA) Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla.

The modern convention center was completed in 2024 at the former site of Ateneo De Manila University, to accommodate community events. Foro De Intramuros is a large enclosed tent surrounded by an architectural shell inspired by the Jesuit-run school that once stood on the site.

The historic site has evolved dramatically since after the massive fire in 1932 that engulfed the school and the destructive Battle of Manila in 1945. The school ruins were repurposed as office spaces for several decades before its eventual demolition in the 1980s.

In 1992, its property management was passed on to the Intramuros Administration. The site also once served as the Clamshell Exhibition Hall for the WOW Philippines tourism campaign in 2003.

Finally in 2024, with support from the Office of the President, the modern events venue was constructed, which still pays homage to the old Ateneo facade, integrating heritage and modern designs.

This year, it was chosen as the venue for LIKHA, an artisanal exhibition of true Filipino craftsmanship initiated by the Office of the First Lady.
